Are you looking to start a hands‑on career in mechanical engineering and commit to learning a skilled trade? We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join a supportive workshop team and build a strong foundation for a long‑term career.

About the Apprenticeship

This is a 4‑year Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship combining full‑time paid work with formal TAFE training at VU Sunshine. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

This role suits someone who is eager to learn, willing to listen, and committed to developing their skills over time.

About the Role

With guidance and training, you will learn to:
  • Assemble and fit hydraulic equipment
  • Assist with testing and basic fault‑finding
  • Safely use hand and power tools
  • Operate lathes and milling machines
  • Complete basic MIG and stick welding tasks
You’ll be part of a well‑organised, practical workshop environment where quality, safety, and learning are prioritised.

We are seeking candidates who are:
  • Willing to learn and take feedback on board
  • Keen to start a career in mechanical engineering
  • Comfortable completing trade school at VU Sunshine TAFE
  • Able to work hands‑on in a workshop setting
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused
  • Committed to completing the full term of the apprenticeship
No previous experience is required — a positive attitude and genuine interest in the trade are key.
