After leaving university unsure of my next step, a traineeship gave me a pathway to gain a qualification while working. The experience was life changing it built my confidence, gave me a sense of purpose and helped me develop strong practical skills like communication, time management and goal setting. With support from my mentor and team, I grew quickly, proved my capability and progressed into senior roles, including supporting executive leaders. The traineeship opened doors I never expected and set the foundation for my career now I’m able to create the same opportunities for others.

After finishing Year 12, I was working at Woolworths and looking for admin roles when I found a traineeship. It was a practical pathway that helped me build skills, confidence and employability through hands-on experience and strong mentor support. I stayed on after completing it and was able to quickly move into new roles, progressing into project and procurement work I never expected. The traineeship gave me a strong foundation and real career opportunities, and I’ve seen first-hand how businesses that invest in trainees create capable, work-ready employees.

This opportunity built my confidence and gave me valuable hands-on experience, supported by experienced mentors, with skills I still use today. It provided a strong foundation for my career, enabling me to grow internally and progress, now leading a team across two departments. The ability to gain a qualification while working was invaluable. I strongly advocate for traineeships as a powerful pathway for both career development and workforce planning.
