Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre Recognised as Finalist at South Australian Training Awards

The Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre (ATC) is proud to have been recognised as a finalist in the Large Employer of the Year category at the 2026 South Australian Training Awards.

The nomination, submitted in partnership with Mayfield Industries, recognised the outstanding outcomes achieved through a long-standing commitment to developing apprentices and trainees and creating meaningful career pathways within South Australia’s manufacturing sector.

While the award ultimately went to another deserving organisation, being named a finalist alongside some of Australia’s largest and most respected employers, including BAE Systems, BHP and Datacom, is a significant achievement and highlights the impact of the collaborative approach taken by the Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre and Mayfield Industries.

The South Australian Training Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in vocational education and training, recognising organisations that demonstrate leadership in workforce development and a commitment to building the skills needed for the future. Reaching the finalist stage reflects the strength of the apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities being created through the partnership and the positive outcomes being delivered for both apprentices and industry.

For many years, the Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre and Mayfield Industries have worked together to support apprentices through high-quality training, mentoring and real-world workplace experience. This partnership has helped develop a pipeline of skilled tradespeople while creating rewarding careers for individuals entering the manufacturing industry.

The recognition also reflects the achievements of the apprentices who have completed their training and progressed into successful careers, including recent award winners and finalists who have represented both organisations at state and national training awards.

Employment & Training Consultant Harry McCabe said being named a finalist was something both organisations could be proud of.

“To be recognised alongside nationally recognised employers such as BAE Systems, BHP and Datacom is a tremendous achievement. While we didn’t take home the award, being a finalist highlights the strength of our partnership with Mayfield Industries and our shared commitment to developing the next generation of skilled workers.”

The Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre congratulates all finalists and winners from the 2026 South Australian Training Awards and looks forward to continuing its work with employers such as Mayfield Industries to support skills development and strengthen Australia’s future workforce.
