Charlie Campo: An Apprenticeship Completed and an Exciting Chapter Ahead

At the Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre, we love a good completion story and Charlie Campo’s certainly fits the bill. But what makes Charlie’s story extra special is that finishing his apprenticeship is not the end of the journey. Instead, it’s the foundation for an exciting next chapter that’s about to take him overseas.

Charlie has now officially completed his apprenticeship, a significant milestone that reflects years of hard work, commitment, and perseverance. With his qualification secured, Charlie is preparing to head to England, where he will take up an opportunity to continue pursuing his passion for cricket.

Nominated through his Fremantle cricket club, Charlie was initially surprised by the chance to play abroad, but he embraced the challenge with the same focus and determination he showed throughout his apprenticeship. An accomplished all rounder, Charlie has been a valued contributor to his club, equally capable with bat and ball. That versatility mirrors his approach to his apprenticeship — reliable, adaptable, and willing to put the work in, whatever the task.

Charlie’s path has not been without personal challenges. Following the passing of his brother in mid 2024, himself a talented sportsman with a strong love of cricket and football — Charlie demonstrated remarkable resilience. During a particularly difficult time, he stayed focused on completing his apprenticeship, showing maturity, strength of character, and a deep sense of purpose.

Throughout his training, Charlie was supported by a strong network including his host employer Taylor Bros, his cricket club, and the team at the Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre. That support played a key role in helping him balance the demands of work, training, and sport — and ultimately reach completion.

Charlie’s story is a powerful reminder that completing an apprenticeship doesn’t lock you into one path forever. Instead, it equips you with a nationally recognised qualification, real workplace skills, and confidence that can be used at any stage of life. Whether Charlie returns to his trade in the future or continues to chase opportunities on the sporting field, his apprenticeship will always be something he can fall back on.

As Charlie prepares to depart for England, he does so with a trade qualification behind him and exciting possibilities ahead — both on and off the field.

We congratulate Charlie on completing his apprenticeship and wish him every success as he takes on this next adventure. It’s a story of resilience, achievement, and the many doors an apprenticeship can open.
